My DJ Livestreaming Journey: Part One
LFG.TV, the world’s first DJ only livestreaming platform, chatted with Kevin Grant “DJ KG” representing the Hip-Hop and Open-Format world. from (Connecticut, USA). about his focused musical genre and livestreaming journey.

When and why did your DJ livestreaming journey begin?
I started like a lot of people—on Facebook and Instagram—but got tired of constantly being kicked off. During the pandemic, I tried Twitch in April 2020. I only lasted about 30 minutes and didn’t come back to it seriously until January 2022. That’s when I really found my rhythm.
What were the biggest challenges you faced early on with streaming?
We had no idea what we were doing at first. We just hit “Go Live” and hoped for the best. Didn’t even know what a moderator was for the first six weeks. But we learned fast—through YouTube tutorials, help from other DJs on Twitch, and trial and error. My wife stepped up as a mod, and we reached Partner status within 10 months.
How important is consistency when it comes to streaming?
If you ask my wife, it’s everything. Consistency builds trust with your audience. It’s about picking a time that fits your life and showing up every time. That’s how momentum builds—and it’s how we built a community.
What motivates you to keep streaming your DJ sets?
The freedom to play what I want, and the relationships I’ve built through streaming. We’ve made real friendships—people we now call best friends—because of this. That kind of connection is priceless.
Should livestreaming be part of every DJ’s creative toolkit, especially for new talent?
Absolutely. It doesn’t matter how old you are. Streaming is only going to keep growing. I started streaming because I wasn’t practicing enough at home, and my wife said, “Why don’t you just practice live?” That idea changed everything for me. So yes—streaming can only help. It’s a win either way.
Do you stick to a specific musical theme, or switch things up?
I mainly focus on Hip-Hop, R&B, and Reggae from the ’70s to the 2000s, but every day has its own vibe:
- Monday – Beats & Bars: Hard-hitting lyrical Hip-Hop
- Tuesday – Tuesday Time Machine: Classic 80s Rap
- Wednesday – Throwback Soul and R&B
- Thursday – Y2K Vibes: 2000s nostalgia
- Friday – Weekend Blast-Off: A genre-mixing party set
I like to keep it fresh but focused—mostly throwbacks, always a vibe.
How do you think LFG.TV will benefit DJs and viewers alike?
LFG.TV puts the spotlight on DJs—their genre, style, and personality—with a global, curated platform that’s all about music and community. It’s not noisy or random; it’s clean and focused, like a digital catalogue of DJs you’ll actually want to follow. It’s tailor-made for discovery, and that’s exciting.
