- Biography:
At the young age of 16 Claude Monnet’s passion for music was ignited when he discovered the early DJ culture. Spinning at St Tropez’ Le Bal and Le Pigeonnier, he was quickly discovered by Parisian club landmarks Le Queen, Le Palace and Les Bains Douches where he became a resident DJ. Spinning in the cult clubs of the capital of French electronic culture, Claude Monnet set the pace for house music with a “French touch”.
However, it would be his productions, released on his own labels SSOH and Mixture that would best reflect his vision of electronic music. Detailed but eclectic, Claude Monnet’ music find its roots in soul, disco and funk, its energy in Detroit’s techno and its identity and warmth in latin flavors and African rhythms.
Claude Monnet has been a consistent presence in the world’s largest discotheques such as Ibiza’s flagship clubs Pacha and Amnesia, Miami’s Mansion and SET, Tokyo’s Unit and AIR and London’s renown Ministry Of Sound. His sober attitude and uncompromising love of music allow him to be recognized as one of the world’s best DJ producers and propelled him into some of the largest electronic music events such as the Ibiza’s “French Revolution” with Daft Punk and Cassius in 1998, the co-production of a 1998 Eiffel tower show with Jean Michel Jarre in front of more than one million people (and subsequent work on Jean Michel Jarre’s album entitled “Odyssey Through 02") and his opening of the 1999 Winter Music Conference in Miami.
Claude Monnet is also a talent scout, discovering one of France’s best selling DJ producers, Martin Solveig, with whom he created the label Mixture. Creating special events for international DJs such as Not2bad and Spirit, Claude Monnet’s passion always leads him to groundbreaking projects such as Back to Fundamentals, a mix of electronic music and urban art.
