Knifehandchop (Billy Pollard)’s diversity and bricolage-like collection of original productions in various genres is duly noted.

He is known to produce what has been called ‘bastard pop’ by drawing on elements from ragga, techno, hardcore, hip-hop and electro.

From the multi-cultural urban centre of Toronto, Canada, where many cultures collide and only sometimes blend together, his eclectic music (perhaps even attention deficit generation-inspired) makes sense in this setting.

Having recently played at Mutek Festival, he started producing music at age 18 and has released on such labels as Tigerbeat6 and Irritant. Needless to say, he’s fairly accomplished.

Catching up in Toronto recently, Knifehandchop explained the connection between the world famous London nightclub ‘Fabric’ and his track by the same name that came out on Mutek Festival’s 2008 CD compilation.

Arnej Secerkadic, aka Arnej, says that his track titles always have a meaning, and the title ‘They Always Come Back’, with its creepy connotations, reflects the sound of the record, which can be quite dark at times.

Receiving the Armada stamp of approval, ‘They Always Come Back’ is a beautiful, melodic trance record with a proggy feel to it.

Anyone who registered their interest with UK service provider O2 was informed at 8 AM this morning, via text message, about their chance to upgrade to the new 3G iPhone on a first-come-first-serve basis.

New buyers didn’t experience too many problems buying their 3G iPhone, but the contracted owners who’ve already got one – tempted in by an irresistible “click here for free upgrade” – flocked to the site in droves, crashing the system.

This is bad news for musically-minded DJs and producers everywhere.

Originally started as Ten Days of Techno in 1995, this festival has since drawn the attention of millions of music lovers the world over, with festival-goers totalling upwards of 25,000 in 2006.
