Scuba: The Hope

The Hope” is the first single to be lifted from Scuba’s forthcoming album on his own Hotflush Recordings.

In what looks like to be a busy year for the infleuntial label, it was recently announced that Jimmy Edgar is also to be releasing his next album through Scuba’s label.

You can catch Scuba playing live from our Berlin office as part of our Beatport Live series on Wednesday February 22nd, beginning at 18:00 CET.

Nicolas Jaar: Materials

Nicolas Jaar’s Marks & Angles EP on Circus Company tends to get overshadowed by his album Space Is Only Noise and the releases on his own label Clown And Sunset. Still, that 2010 EP was pivotal for him, and if it hadn’t been for tracks like “Marks,” “Angles,” and “Materials,” then his career might have developed very differently indeed.

To help jog our memories, Pondr have produced an extremely weird and surreal video to accompany “Materials,” featuring floating trumpets and (what else?) scary clowns.

Emika: Hit Me feat. Jimmy Edgar

If I had a dollar for every time we wrote a post about Emika, I’d have, well, quite a few dollars. But when someone is as productive and exciting as Ninja Tune’s new protégé, then it’s hard not for us to continually update you.

We recently told you about her new video for “3 Hours,” co-produced by Jimmy Edgar and lifted from her debut album. Well, now there’s a video for the rework by none other than the multi-talented maestro (aka Mr. Creepy Autograph) himself, entitled “Hit Me.”

To coincide with this, Emika is also running a “rework” competition on her Soundcloud page. You can download the stems and upload your re-worked version of the track for a chance to win several exclusive goodies from the Berlin-based producer. For inspiration, check back at Beatport on February 13, when her new single drops.

Objekt: Cactus

Having recently represented Beatport over in Japan, Berlin-based techno producer Objekt has been making waves in the underground electronic community. From his BBC mix to his SBTRKT remix, Objekt is definitely an artist to watch in 2012.

His forthcoming EP on Hessle Audio typifies his dark, brooding fusion of techno and bass music; check back this Monday, February 6, when the record comes out. As for the video above, we have no idea what it’s supposed to mean.

Al Tourettes: Inventing

Bristol’s Al Tourettes returns with the new track “Inventing,” lifted from his forthcoming EP on Sneaker Social Club. With pulsating, stabbing basslines, vibrant oscillating waveforms and some killer beats, it’s Tourettes to a “T.”

The video itself is just as creative, blending together images of biological experiments, naked women, and outdated technological machinery. Rumors are rife that Al Tourettes will one day be affiliated with Warp Records, and with this record, as well as his previous on Aus and Apple Pips, it’s easy to see why.

Cratedigger Essentials: Cyantific

Having traversed the drum & bass spectrum now for the past 10 years, Cyantific (aka Jon Stanley) sees his latest record, ”Infinity," released on the legendary RAM Records.

Featured on the new edition of the Dimensions series along with tracks from Wickaman & RV, June Miller and newcomer Rene LaVice, the EP is a collection of upfront, floor-filling drum & bass quality. We caught up with Jon to quiz him about his all-time favorite classics for our Cratedigger Essentials feature.

Skrillex feat. Members of the Doors: Breakin’ A Sweat

Taken from Re:Generation, a film tracking the collaborative efforts of contemporary EDM producers with OG musicians from jazz, rock and classical, “Breakin’ A Sweat” chronicles the unlikely meeting of Skrillex and The Doors’ remaining members.

The track features on Skrillex’s chart-topping Bangarang EP released late last year, which also featured Wolfgang Gartner, 12th Planet and Kill The Noise.

The M Machine: Glow

The mysterious M Machine release the accompanying video to their single “Glow,” released late last year on Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint.

Set in a post-industrial dystopia, this futuristic pop melody soundtracks the exploits of a young girl and the vengeful robot who helpfully slaughters all those who bully her. As for the message here, well, we’re not too sure, but it sure looks nice.

Check out the two-track single on Beatport here.
