Get Physical tour: Heidi’s bruises

Last night the DJ booth at Five in Washington DC was a cramped little spot, way up high above the dancefloor.

The only way to get to the DJ booth was up a tight metal spiral staircase out back, and for DJs carrying heavy record bags and CD wallets, it’s a bit like walking a gauntlet of death, as Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif found out when the club closed.

As she was carrying her record bag down the stairs, her heel got caught in the metal grill and she fell ass over tit, smacking her knee into the staircase.

Top Track: Noze ‘You Have To Dance’

M.A.N.D.Y.http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif blew away hundreds of clubbers at the Beatport Pool Party in Miami during the Winter Music Conference in March, and finished off their set with Nozehttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif ‘You Have To Dance’, a track that sounds like it was recorded by a bunch of drunk Bavarian beer drinkers.

At the time, Philipp from M.A.N.D.Y. told Beatportal that it was called ‘Dance With Me’, but the track is actually called ‘You Have To Dance’ [track No.5 in the player].

Either way, it’s a quality weird tech house tune, and we love it for its quirkiness.

The track comes from Noze’s brilliant new album ‘Songs On The Rocks’ which was released last week.

Check out a video of M.A.N.D.Y. dropping ‘You Have To Dance’, and then check out the album in the player below.

Get Physical crew gate crash Washington, D.C.

“I want to see the White House,” shouted Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif, during lunch in Washington, D.C. yesterday.

So after lunch, we all piled into a cab to go and see the place where the president lives.

“You know, I saw the White House before, and I took my trousers down in front of it,” explained Patrick from M.A.N.D.Y.http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif about a particular time when he was close to being arrested.

Get Physical meets their bus

“What the fuck is this?!” shouted Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif last night at the Underbar club in Boston during her set.

She pointed at the DJ set up, which admittedly did look quite odd but nothing out of the ordinary, until she pointed out the turntables were actually bouncing as they were on springs.

A line above some metal grills on the DJ booth noted the ‘sound was by Angel Morales’.

Beatport To-Go

Get Physical’s set for Sunday night soiree in Boston

“Have you met the bus driver yet?” Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif asked, as she came bounding into the hotel lobby in Boston just a minute a go.

The Get Physical crew’s plane out of Denver was delayed so they’ve only just arrived in the city with just a couple of hours till Heidi is due to start spinning in Underbar Super Lounge at 275 Tremont St, Boston.

Patrick and Philipp from M.A.N.D.Y.http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif followed up behind her dragging their record bags into the lobby. They embraced Industry Boy with another European hug.

“What’s the plan tonight my friend?” asked Patrick, as he headed towards the elevator.

“I have to lie down on a horizontal bed right now, and I think I’ll get room service, but we play at 12,” he said, before getting his record bag stuck in the elevator door.

The Get Physical tour begins prematurely

The Get Physical bus tour hasn’t even started yet, and already there’s a raging hangover in my head.

Last night, M.A.N.D.Y.http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif and Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif played at Beta nightclub in Denver, which was the last date before starting the final leg of their tour involving a tour bus, seven gigs in seven days, and Industry Boy blogging through it all.

Denver happens to be home to Beatport and it’s where I live, so last night I popped along to Beta to meet the Get Physical crew, to prepare for the bus tour which starts today in Boston.

Get Physical Tour: M.A.N.D.Y.’s thoughts

Ahead of being embedded on the Get Physical tour bus as it travels around America, I interviewed Patrick Bodmer & Philipp Jung from M.A.N.D.Y.http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif to find out more about what to expect.

The German tech house duo will be touring across America in a tour bus with Canadian-born Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif and Industry Boy will be accompanying them for a big chunk of their tour (May 3rd - May 10th) which will encompass eight gigs in eight cities.
Check the interview after the jump.

Live blog from the Get Physical tour bus

Having only just recovered from being embedded on Sasha and John Digweed’s tour bus for three weeks, I’ll be doing it all over again, this time blogging live and direct from the Get Physical tour bus as it goes around North America.

Being super glued to German duo M.A.N.D.Y.http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif and Canadian-born DJ Heidihttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif presents its own unique opportunity (and problems).

Whilst Sasha and John Digweed are megastar DJs with an established global profile, M.A.N.D.Y. and Heidi are more underground and will be playing much smaller venues.

Sasha and Digweed played five gigs a week and stayed in hotels every night, whereas the Get Physical crew are playing eight gigs in eight days, in eight different US cities - they will be doing the tour bus proper, and will actual live and sleep on the bus as it drives from club to club.
