Wednesday track: Dubfire ‘I Feel Speed’ (Audion Remix)

Dubfirehttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif versus Audionhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif anyone? Matthew Dear takes Dubfire’s progressive house number and turns it into a wacky techno gem, filled with weird synths and cool melodies.

Not much more to say, other than it’s a phat track guaranteed to work on most dancefloors.

Check it after the jump.

Dancefloor Destroyers 3rd December

Each week we present our Dancefloor Destroyers chart - our picks of the hottest dance tracks.

This week Burial’s haunting ‘Archangel’ is back in our chart - the dubstep king’s latest album ‘Untrue’ just can’t be put down.

Finally after months and months of waiting CR2 drops Popof’s huge ‘Alcoolic’, a guaranteed wacky electro tech cut.

Funk master James Brown also makes an appearance, with a new Henrik Schwarzhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif remix of ‘It’s A Man’s World’.

Prince Harry’s classic house DJ chart

The good chap Prince Harry got in touch with us recently to reveal his top 10 classic house cuts [click on the mini speaker icons to hear the tracks he likes, or check them all out in the player below].

“Ya, I absolutely love getting down and funky with my friends on my yacht in the Bahamas,” said Harry, who regularly DJs at raves and festivals around the world.

“It’s soooo much fun, we always have a spiffing time.”

When asked why he was fond of classic house he said, “Well the ladies quite like house, and I quite like the ladies, ha.”

Top track: Le Noir ‘Eleny’ (Radio Slave Panorama Garage Mix)

There’s nothing better than a Radio Slavehttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif hypnotic house cut, and his Panorama Garage Mix of Le Noir’s ‘Eleny’ [track No.4 in the player below] is just that.

It starts off sounding like a disco house loop, and for two minutes is devoid of a single kick drum.

Simple percussion flirts with synth stabs that are echoed back and forth to create tension and suspense.

But rather than build up towards the kick drum, the loop just keeps going. And going.

Finally when it drops, there’s an earth shattering kick drum bass combo that’ll rip apart any speaker system.

It’s the kind of bouncy house beat that clubs like London’s Secretsundaze are built upon - SS’ resident DJ Giles Smith recently put ‘Eleny’ at No.1 in his DJ chart.

The loop keeps going, whilst white noise and eerie high frequency pads warn of something bigger approaching.

Tuesday track: Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner ‘Ear Worm’

Berlin duo Heinrichs & Hirtenfellnerhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif apparently fully test all their productions at Panorama Bar and Bar 25, and ‘Ear Worm’ is a deep twisted minimal track that you could definitely imagine being played in Berlin’s top clubs.

The weird, almost African chant vocal is quality and will mess with your head before the track drops into a heads down bleep groove.

There’s an abundance of half-decent minimal being released these days, but ‘Ear Worm’ is one of the good ones.

Listen to ‘Ear Worm’ after the jump.

Radio Slave is untouchable, and his combination with Francois K is undisputed.

Friday track: Catz n Dogz ‘Fixation’ (Dirtybird)

San Francisco’s Dirtybird Records, under the watchful eye of Claude VonStroke has grown to become one the most consistent labels in dance music - all of its releases are quality, quirky tech house gems.

Catz n Dogzhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif ‘Fixation’ is no different, featuring a hypnotic vocal loop that grows and grows in intensity due to clever use of effects.

The build up will destroy any dancefloor and freak out a fair few people too.

Simple yet devastating.

Too early for a Best of 2007 DJ chart?

Today whilst walking to work I saw the first Christmas shop window display of the season. It’s the 15th of November for bleeding sake.

And now we’ve just been sent a Best of 2007 DJ chart.

There’s still another month and half of left of 2007, and typically in November and December loads of good dance tunes get released so it’s a bit early to be putting the nail in the 2007 coffin.

Still, DJ F.E.X.’s (Dessous) chart has some worthy tracks in it.

Check out what he thinks were the best tracks of this year, after the jump.

Wednesday track: Popof ‘My Toyz’

French techno producer Popofhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif is back with the slamming techno cut ‘My Toyz’, following up from his massive summer hit ‘Alcoolic’ which bizarrely disappeared halfway through the summer.

The electro-tech madness of ‘Alcoolic’ was originally released on AFU and was a huge hit in Ibiza, but it suddenly got pulled down from Beatport in July.

Apparently CR2 Records has signed it, but the track is still yet to be re-released on the British house label.

Still if you missed ‘Alcoolic’, ‘My Toyz’ gives you some idea of Popof’s style, which borders of techno and electro.

The track features a mammoth breakdown before dropping back into a bleepy driving techno beat. A dancefloor destroyer if ever there was one.

I can’t decide whether I like the Original Mix or the Minimal mix better - both are kicking like mules on speed.

Listen to the track after the jump.

Tuesday track: The Mountain People: ‘Mountain 003’

Often a good track can just be about one single distinctive noise, and The Mountain People’s ‘Mountain 003’ has this cool Latino castanet hit every so often which gives the song a real sexy, Carnival-esque feeling.

Good programming by the Swiss duo The Mountain Peoplehttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif ensures that the dancefloor is kept guessing about when that groovy castanet sound comes back - sometimes it’s a regular loop, at other times not.

And if your mind is kept guessing, that’s when you lose yourself in the music.

All the South American-inclined house and minimal DJs have been playing ‘Moutain 003’ including Luciano and Villalobos.

Listen to the track after the jump.

Finally! Larry Heard’s ‘The Sun Can’t Compare’ released

It has been a bit of a running joke.

The most recognisable club anthem of recent times wasn’t actually available to buy digitally.

It was huge in Ibiza.

It was huge in Berlin and London.

Ellen Allien included it on her Fabric mix compilation.

Luciano and Craig Richards played it for months on end.

Clubbers can sing along to the words like only a true anthem can create.

But Larry Heardhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif and Mr. White’s ‘The Sun Can’t Compare’ remained a limited edition vinyl, creating a blood-lust demand not often experienced in these digital, global-distribution days.

Friday track: Cristian Padauraru (Rhadoo Minimal Techno Mix)

The weekend is almost here so we thought we’d share a sexy minimal techno track with you lot.

Rhadoo’s Minimal Techno Mix of Cristian Padauraru ‘Clickno Anthem’ is a quality experimental techno track made up of loops and disjointed beats (it’s track No.2 in the player after the jump).

But somehow the broken beats and loops work together to create a dancefloor oddity that works in a very hypnotic, DC10 sort of way.
