Dissonanze roundup

In hindsight, Dissonanze was insane whichever way I look at it.

48 hours of intensity - music, alcohol, thousands of thrill seekers - all jammed into one super-technical venue, but was it really any good?

Body Language @ Dissonanze

Watch Booka Shade’s epochal ‘Body Language’ drive the Dissonanze crowd wild.

This was the last track of their memorable set, and Arno is visibly exhausted and moved after bashing his digital pads like a madman.

Walter looks fine, though - perhaps because he was only using his fingers!

Video: Cobblestone Jazz set @ Dissonanze festival

Cobblestone Jazzhttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif cooked up the most aurally stimulating, original, hypnotic, warm, thumping set you could possibly image at the Dissonanze festival - it was perhaps even better than Booka Shade’s.

Let my cameraman Vlad “The Mic” Impaler take you on a journey across the Dissonanze dance floor - a place where your eyes and ears will melt with pleasure.

Roadblock at Dissonanze festival!

The Dissonanze festival was held at the beautiful Palazzo dei Congressi venue.

Check out what this unreal palace looks like in the daytime, at night and with hordes of partygoers outside.

Behind the scenes @ Dissonanze festival

I snuck about behind the scenes, and even had to run away from a few angry-looking security staff with tazers, to bring you behind-the-scenes footage of the Dissonanze festival.

Everything was being assembled and tested for day two, which is about six hours away at the time of writing.

Model 500 interview @ Dissonanze

You always know an interview is going to be bad when you turn up and the person you’re interviewing says, “I don’t really want to do an interview”.

So, I sweet-talked Model 500http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif a little bit and coaxed out a few select quotes for you to mull over.

Video: Booka Shade smash Dissonanze festival

We were lost in Rome, trying to find Booka Shadehttp://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif whilst fighting the temptation to go to a nearby bar and get f*&ked.

In this exclusive footage, we recorded Booka Shade’s Germanic antics in a vintage pizza joint in Rome, followed by them destroying the dance floor at the Palazzo dei Congressi.

Dissonanze Diary: From London to Rome

I left everything to the final damn second on Thursday - getting to bed at 2:30 a.m. - preparing to visit Rome to report on the Dissonanze festival.

At 11 p.m. on Thursday night, I was still trying to charge three laptop batteries, two camera batteries, wash my clothes in the sink and God knows what else, but I made it to the airport after only an hour’s sleep.

Dissonanze: exclusive Booka Shade interview

Dissonanze, now in its eighth year, is one of the globe’s best music festivals – a synergy of sound and visuals taking place in Italy, boasting an alternative line up.

Little known outside of its native Europe, Dissonanze will light up Rome with its roster of eclectic stars at a time of year when the sun scorches the millennia-old architecture of Europe’s most historical capital.

As you can see in the adorning image, décor, lighting and set-up are as integral to Dissonanze as the artists playing there – this festival caters to the eyes as well as the ears.
