Once or twice a year in dance music, a nasty techno throbber gets dropped on the fiery dancefloors of Ibiza and later becomes an anthem around the world.

Audion’s 2006 smash ‘Mouth To Mouth’ is a prime example of how Ibiza’s club scene is used as a testing ground for future hits—the track was played at Space and DC10, before later blowing up around the world.

Now Len Faki’s ‘Death By House’ comes, a track that has been huge at Cocoon at Amnesia every Monday since the beginning of the season, and is destined to be a future global hit.

At Ibiza’s Amnesia club on Monday we bumped into Polish-born minimal/techno DJ Magda at Cocoon.

As part of the Minus crew, Magda is considered one of the top techno DJs in the world, so I asked her what she thinks of Ibiza.

“I love Ibiza,” she says.

“It is a little cheesy on some parts of the island but every time I play here people seem so happy and excited to be here which, for a DJ, makes it very fun to play.

“Plus at Cocoon, I can play what I want which is important.”

I think she said her name was Francesca but I couldn’t hear properly over the booming techno of Amnesia’s main room.

As one of Amnesia’s many dancers, this Chilean girl will spend her summer nights in Ibiza dancing until the early hours seven days a week.

Last year Cocoon smashed away all expectations with a superb series of weekly parties at Ibiza’s Amnesia club.

Many clubbers and DJs on the island proclaimed Cocoon to be one of the best club nights in Ibiza, and with a killer line-up of top techno talent, Cocoon looks set to rule Ibiza once again this summer.

This year Sven Väth and his resident DJ friends Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos are playing under the banner ‘Disco Invaders’ with a suitably weird Star Wars style theme [check out the artwork above!].

Sven Väth is one of our heroes and after watching this fabulous video from 1987 of Sven performing the pop song ‘Step By Step’ live on Italian national TV we love him even more.

This live perfomance is taken from the TV show Festival Bar ‘87 and shows the boss of Cocoon prancing about on stage, singing and dancing like a proper pop star (in superb 1980s attire).

Sven owned that stage, and even back then you can tell that the trendy techno DJ was destined to be a star.
