Variety is the spice of the dancefloor and Kompakt’s new ‘Total 8’ compilation offers a number of club gems from the increasingly colourful electronic music rainbow. Released to coincide with Kompakt recent C/O Pop Festival in Cologne, Kompakt’s ‘Total’ compilation features some of the label’s best tracks from the last 12 months.

This year’s ‘Total 8’ features 22 cuts of the finest techno, minimal and electro, 12 of which are new tracks, including a taster from the forthcoming Supermayer album aka Michael Mayer and Superpitcher.

If anything, the compilation showcases Kompakt’s consistency for cutting-edge electronic music, and the label’s refusal to stick to one sound.

There’s accessible vocal-led space disco from Rex The Dog - his ‘Every Day’ showcases the London-based producer’s affiliation to all things analogue.

Jurgen Pappe & Boy Schaufler offer a deep house excursion with ‘We Love’, whilst Partial Arts spurts a fruity summer vibe with ‘Trauermusik’.

Michael Mayer and Tobias Thomas too get in on the warm house action with the piano-led ‘Uber Wiesen’ which is happier than a skipping schoolgirl.

There’s techno trance from Aril Brikha (‘Berghain’), funky techno from Schaeben & Voss, and plenty of dark minimal and tech house from Kompakt boys Reihard Voigt (‘Follow The DJ’) and Superpitcher (‘Rainy Nights In Georgia’).
