#09 in this month's The 20Glamour puss Shinedoe
has over the last 12 months become something of a name to drop at techno dinner parties. The fact that she’s a woman, a talented producer and DJ, and she runs a damn good label (Intacto), makes her stand out in a genre awash with ugly men.
Her recent track ‘Phunk’ was retouched by none other than tastemaker Ricardo Villalobos and here she drops her first mix CD for Belgium’s top techno club Fuse.
Only the best of the best do CDs for Fuse – previous DJs to have mixed Fuse compilations include Joris Voorn and Steve Bug – which makes Shinedoe hot club property.
This year she’s done guest spots at Watergate in Berlin, Robert Johnson in Frankfurt and Fabric in London so it’s no surprise that the mix is underground and cutting-edge.
The set starts off warm and deep with Laid ‘Punch Up’ and Ron Trent’s sexy deep house track ‘Feel The Rhythm’.
Ron Trent again rears his funky head on the uptempo ‘Space Ridims’, before a double dose of tech funk from Daniel Mehlhart ‘Wach Werden’ and Denis Karimani - Strange But Cool (2000 And One Remix).
Beatportal favourites Italoboyz also crop up alongside Arnaud Le Texier on ‘Arancio’, before Shinedoe’s label partner 2000 And One takes things chunky with ‘Pak Pak’.
Techno heavyweights Underground Resistance finish off the mix in a jam with Gui Boratto’s ‘The Blessing’.
More than the sum of its parts, this is promising stuff from Shinedoe, who blends the tracks perfectly in an intricate and groovy way.
Plus, she did it all on two turntables which makes it all the more appealing.
