#03 in this month's The 20One day French DJ and producer Tom Pooks
woke up and thought, ‘Sacrebleu! I think I’ve found ze perfect zound for dis electronic muzik’. And that sound was the noise that all little boys make when they play with their toy cars: ZeeeeOOOOOOOMMmmmmmmm!
Yes, ‘Trouble’ is built around the sound of a Formula 1 car zooming past at around 240 miles per hour.
A simple stripped down tech house groove interspersed with sexy vocal snippets jiggles and wobbles whilst the dancefloor feels the burn of Michael Schumacher ripping past in reverb.
It sounds like a recipe for a pile up on the first corner, but ‘Trouble’ is in fact a dancefloor destroyer that’ll grow on you.
You can blame Josh Wink
for the addictiveness of this track – by slightly re-tweaking the sounds and adding a few special Winky FX he’s come up trumps once again with a crowd-pleasing tech house groover.
There’s also a D’Julz remix that cuts up the Formula 1 sample, and Tom Pooks and El Farouki’s original is an FX-laden beast.
Drop this at a party, and just wait for the dancefloor to scream out ‘ZeeeOOOOOoom’.
