Shonky’s new album ‘Time Zero’ features some brilliant techno and tech house, but it’s the remixes of lead track ‘Time Zero’ that are getting Beatportal excited.
It pits two top techno producers against each other, and refreshingly both Frenchman Paul Ritch and Mathias Kaden turn in completely different versions.
Paul Ritch’s hypnotic dark techno is as expected, a monster bleep fest full of driving rhythms.
The fist punching bassline and build up will tear the roof off any club – Paul Ritch is on fire.
Mathias Kaden’s remix of ‘Time Zero’ is much more organic and free, as expected from a producer who seems obsessed with live drums.
The kick drum is very light, almost non-existent as Kaden builds his track around drifting vocal snippets and a gripping bassline.
Kaden’s music sounds so free, like it was recorded live by a band, whilst Paul Ritch’s Ableton-built techno is driving and high octane.
Together, they make for a dangerous dancefloor package.
