Along with 2001 and One, Patrice Baumel and Lauhaus, Bart Skils & Anton Pieete have been part of the recent Dutch techno movement that has injected a healthy dose of Detroit-influenced funk into the European scene.

Their remix of ‘Crabsticks’, lifted from Mark Broom & Mihalis Safras ‘Stone EP’ is a perfect case in point.

Offbeat bass, Detroit stabs and white noise hats all play their part in this simple effective club number although it’s hard to escape the nagging feeling that the above does equate to little more than a production checklist.

That said the reaction on the ‘floor is what really matters and without a doubt this remix would hit them where it hurts.
