Broker/Dealer wear their 80’s influences overtly on their sleeve on the very retro but very different ‘Soft Sell EP’ on Spectral Sound.

Placing their flag in the ground somewhere between the decade’s synth pop sensibilities and the more melodic end of the techno spectrum, Broker Dealer conjure up a well rounded pair in the form of ‘Soft Sell’ and ‘Save It For Later’. 

For our money, though, this EP properly comes alive as Kompakt mainstay Thomas Fehlmann drags ‘Soft Sell’ through the dirt – twice. 

The rounded edges of the original are hacked off into jagged shards with the beats in particular being distressed and distorted beyond recognition. 

The second Fehlmann version pulls back the melodic sweeteners further and adds an incessant techno synth stab in their place; dropping the track squarely on a darkened floor.
