Phonosutura - Andrea Sartori

Phonosutura

Andrea Sartori [Persona]

#19 in this month's The 20

Nu-jazz is the perfect way to describe Andrea Sartori’s ‘Phonosutura’, which is an exotic blend of tech house and jazz.

Like Laurent Garnier’s ‘The Man With The Red Face’, lead track ‘Phonosutura’ combines techno loops and driving basslines with improvisational jazzy moments.

It’s a wonderful combination of deep house pads, twisted tech house basslines and funky interludes and the track is unique in its approach to arrangement.

Tangents abound, ‘Phonosutura’ rolls across the dancefloor like a giant donut down a mountain, following the path of least resistance.

Towards the end of the song, the basslines even start to sound disco.

And Andrea Sartori keeps the disco theme going on ‘Pendant’ which begins as an empty soundscape, before kicking off with a classic disco groove.

There’s also some bizarre electro disco to be found on ‘Horror Vacui’ which proves Andrea Sartori is a producer who refuses to be caged.
