Liquid Dancehall - Zomby
The 20: February 2009
Featured Review #10
Liquid Dancehall
Zomby [Ramp Recordings]
#10 in this month's The 20Here are two tracks of sublime electronic music that will appeal to both dubstep fans and aspirational electronic producers alike.
‘Liquid Dancehall’ combines soulful vocal snippets with evolving basslines and jumpy breakstep, but the jewel in this crown is ‘Strange Fruit’ that sounds like a cross between a church organist out of control and a wacky techno band.
It’s surprisingly addictive to listen to, and the multitude of key changes makes sense, with Zomby bringing to the underlying note chaos. A strange fruit indeed.
