Ben Klock [Klockworks]

#13 in this month's The 20

Ben Klock spins at Berlin’s infamous Berghain club and even recorded a track (‘Czeslawa’ on Ostgut) specifically for his sets at the decadent techno bastion last year.

That goes to show how dedicated Klock is to the darker, more effective side of techno.

In 2006, Ben Klock launched his own record label Klockworks as a channel to release solo singles and now comes the third such Ben Klock ‘Klockworks’ release.

This time the dark techno master delivers more stripped down nonsense, with ‘Steady Plus’ featuring a straight-edged bassline and a few strange noises clattering in the background.

The resulting emptiness of the track is in essence, minimal techno, a resolutely underground, sparse sound built around synthesized notes and effects.
‘Red Handed’ takes things down a more hypnotic route with a repetitive electronic lead line and rumbling bassline.

Both tracks are perfect warm up material, or great early morning mood setters, depending what state you’re in.
