Impulse - Wareika

Impulse

Wareika [Connaisseur Recordings]

#17 in this month's The 20

‘Impulse’ is an experiment gone right, spawned by the creative genius of live performance group the Wareikans (Florian Schirmacher, Henrik Raabe, Jakob Seidensticker).

Their vibe has been billed as “jackin’ afro-tech” and that hits pretty close to the mark with this choon.

It’s a mellow medley of percussion layered atop a big kick and heavy bassline.

It’s gently rough, like a good lovemaking session.

A little teasing and foreplay, but once the hook gets you there’s no turning back.

The sassy piano riff and buildup work into a frenzied climax and slowly lets you down again, satisfied with the ride.

The creativeness and spontaneity really shine through on this one; it’s perfect for any loft, rooftop, or afterhours set.
