Faceless / Solvent - Commix

Faceless / Solvent

Commix [Shogun]

#19 in this month's The 20

Commix recent album ‘Call To Mind’ was consistently listed in the top album lists of 2007. The LP combined drum & bass beats with unexpected techno and soulful house cuts proving the lads were versatile and talented.

So when hot producer Marcus Intalex gets onboard for a remix of Commix’ ‘Faceless’, you’re guaranteed a dancefloor treat.

Intalex’ garage-esque bassline is complimented by synth stabs and an acid lead line which climaxes into a melodic shuffle.

It’s a happy, funky song, before spacey synths take the track into a warmer dimension.

The record is full of dark corners and light moments.

‘Solvent’ on the other hand is dark and progressive.

Electro bass delves deep, thanks to warm pads and driving drum loops.

Vocal FX and snippets cascade around the bass, which is rich and chunky.

This year it seems, will be another great year for the drum & bass champs.
