Down The Sky (Argy Remix)
Ryo Murakami [Poker Flat]
#01 in this month's The 20Tokyo’s fast rising star Ryo Murakami
dropped his first EP ‘Smoke’ for Kawaya Sounds back in March and he has since gained a reputation for forward thinking minimal techno.
Dessous Recordings and Poker Flat
boss Steve Bug is a huge fan of Ryo Murakami having included his track ‘Monument’ on his ‘Fabric37’ mix CD, and here Mr. Bug releases Ryo’s latest EP ‘Down The Sky’ on Poker Flat.
Whilst the original is a suitably sketchy Ryo Murakami wobbler, Argy’s remix of ‘Down The Sky’ is what stands out, thanks to its big room hypnotic synths and dark and long arrangement.
It actually reminds me a lot of Romanian producer Rhadoo’s music (check his remix of Cristian Padauraru ‘Clickno Anthem’), which always seems to feature a monotonous groove punctuated by clever drum hits.
The music builds very subtly and at first ‘Down The Sky’ appears to be a slow burning number, but Argy
increases the intensity slowly so it envelopes the entire track.
Argy’s sound takes up so much space by the end, that it’s hard to resist the groove hitting your head.
This latest releases proves Argy is still one of the best remixers in techno.
