#07 in this month's The 20With a resume that already includes peak time sets in Ibiza, Berlin and NYC’s Shelter, the Bronx-bred duo The Martinez Brothers have been working dancefloors the world over like seasoned pros for a couple years now. We can’t believe they’re still only teenagers.
Though their modesty may hint otherwise, the pair are quietly and unassumingly the toast of the New York nu-school. This release finds them teaming up with Greek producer Argy
on Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity
imprint (Ferrer has taken the brothers under his wing).
‘Debbie Downer’ smacks of a refined and mature ear, with a seamless blending of infectious deep house vocals imposed on a tribally-tech house frame.
On the flip, Bob Marley’s vocals echo against the hollow stripped-back chug of a late night train travelling across a darkened cityscape.
We would go so far as to say that these boys are slated for huge things during 2009, but we’ll attempt to let their music do the talking.
