Coloured In Memory

Fairmont [Border Community]

#20 in this month's The 20

Coming in at the tail end of 2007, ‘Coloured In Memory’ by Fairmont gave electronic music a live organic edge, with the Canadian-born producer proving that it’s possible to get soul out of computers.

“I think you should try and take things further with the songs and develop something special,” Fairmont told Beatportal.

“A CD with a bunch of techno tracks done in the exact way they would be done on 12” seems totally pointless to me.”

So instead he gave us an LP with many moods, a kaleidoscopic journey to the heart of electronica’s no-walls theory.
