Born To Bop - Hugo

Born To Bop

Hugo [Claque Musque]

#14 in this month's The 20

Rising Italian star Hugo [a] has previously released on Tongut, Floppy Funk and Tuning Spork, and here he delivers some freaky funk with ‘Born To Bop’ which kilters on the techno and house divide.

Weird screwy vocal moans and minimal drum loops put the track in Villalobos territory, its monotony underpinned by snippets of melodic bass and feeback.

Jay Haze [pictured] takes the synth loop of the original and funks it up with a dubby room-shaking bassline and strange instrument loops.

The vocals are twisted and fed through some Haze FX to create something rather scary and twisted.

The drums are simple, and as space FX loops fade in and out the general mood of the track turns into a giddy acid trip.
