Magical meeting of musical minds here between Francesco Tristano and Moritz Von Oswald of Basic Channel fame.

Those who enjoyed ‘The Melody’, Tristano’s wonderful encounter with Carl Craig from earlier this year will be well aware how successfully the pianist’s sound lends itself to the techno sphere. 

However, where the aforementioned collaboration was all sweetness and light, ‘Auricle / Bio / On’ is an altogether different beast.

Clocking in at 23 and 26 minutes respectively, Von Oswald’s versions are gargantuan efforts that need to be digested whole.

Traces of melody and the humane touch of instruments are slowly morphed into brooding dub techno monsters that creep further and further towards the dark side as they go.
