#17 in this month's The 20German producer Anthony Rother
was one of the main producers responsible for the 2000 revival of electro. Taking Kraftwerk’s lead, he expressed a fascination for machines through his music, exploring the relationship between man and electronics.
Here on ‘Moderntronic EP’ Anthony Rother delivers three powerful techno tracks, each expressing an underlying electro edge. ‘Moderntronic 3’ features a spaced out synth loop with an evil growling electro underbelly.
‘Moderntronic 2’ is very much in the style of Matthew Jonson’s 2004 Minus release ‘Decompression / Ultraviolet Dream’ with its broken beat kick drum and trippy lead synth.
‘Moderntronic 1’ is the best of the bunch, a crunchy electro house track with dark drums and a groovy bleep line. It’s also the most melodic of the bunch.
For those of you into electro-tech this is an essential release.
