Alex Metric [Marine Parade]
#18 in this month's The 20Marine Parade
just recently signed 26-year-old Alex Metric
and he’s blowing up big having played gigs at Fabric in London and in clubs in Los Angeles. His genre-smashing style can be seen from his new EP ‘Whatshewants’ on Marine Parade.
With a huge roaring bassline that sounds like something Daft Punk would have vomited out, Alex Metric manages to create a nu electro anthem that owes as much to breakbeat as it does to electro house.
There’s also rock elements and urban vocal snippets which means this track is a crossover hit and will satisfy many different dancefloors.
“It’s all quite a mash-up of stuff,” Metric explains about his debut EP for Marine Parade.
“I’m inspired by anything with a bit of balls and attitude.”
Whilst ‘Whatshewants’ is a kick in the knackers, ‘Breakin Hearts’ is a more downtempo electro house track with happy synths and sexy funky vocals.
There’s also groovy electro breaks with robotic voices on ‘Oh’ a track that proves Alex Metric isn’t just about the slamming stuff.
Keep an eye on this lad, he’ll go far.
