Atom/Document
Robert Henke [Imbalance Computer Mu...
#01 in this month's The 20Robert Henke aka Monolake
shows why he’s considered one of the foremost thinkers in electronic music with ‘Atom / Document’, an album of staggering depth and meticulousness that will mean more to electronic music fans who are interested in minutiae details than DJs looking for more Monolake goodies.

Immolate Yourself
Telefon Tel Aviv [Bpitch Control]
#02 in this month's The 20The posthumous album from Telefon Tel Aviv

The Seduction Of Silence
Intrusion [Echospace (Detroit)]
#03 in this month's The 20Under his Intrusion
moniker we find Stephen Hitchell’s full-length debut on Echospace
, a chilled out, dub techno affair that glides through headphones to warm you like sunlight on a winter’s day.
Echoing chords cascade through simple basslines, and Caribbean lilts overlay dubby white noise explorations that glimmer with hints of warm ocean breezes and white sand beaches.
Contacto
Tadeo [net28]
#04 in this month's The 20From the artwork, to the album title, to the music; Tadeo’s ‘Contacto’ has a red line of thought provocation running throughout. Minimal in aesthetic, but large in emotional impact, the LP manages to move beyond the solidified walls of dancefloor techno and become entrenched in the murky grey area of thinking man’s music.

Merriweather Post Pavilion
Animal Collective [Domino]
#05 in this month's The 20Baltimore’s Animal Collective
live up to the hype with a gorgeously varied indie dance album that doesn’t drown under a symphony of drone noise.
Instead the band chose an enlightened path that includes vocal harmonies, soaring synthesizers and delicate whispers, dropped meaningfully over broken beats and downtempo treats.

Reactivity
Daniel Stefanik [Statik Entertaine...
#07 in this month's The 20Detroit-influenced German DJ and producer Daniel Stefanik
demonstrates his versatility in this 9-track LP that delves deep into a broad range of sound that is tied together with a common downtempo thread.
Dub techno dominates, but this sonic adventure also leads the listener down the path of abstract minimal and dubby innerspace, with several stripped back, house-inspired cuts as well as ambient offshoots to wander down.

They Love Terror
Maetrik [Treibstoff]
#08 in this month's The 20This is powerfully robotic techno from Treibstoff mainstay Maetrik
, who has a great understanding of how to keep the ‘floor moving as well as brains ticking.

The Black Book Of Capitalism
Sylvain Chauveau [Type]

Liquid Dancehall
Zomby [Ramp Recordings]
#10 in this month's The 20Here are two tracks of sublime electronic music that will appeal to both dubstep fans and aspirational electronic producers alike.
‘Liquid Dancehall’ combines soulful vocal snippets with evolving basslines and jumpy breakstep, but the jewel in this crown is ‘Strange Fruit’ that sounds like a cross between a church organist out of control and a wacky techno band.

Future Without Past LP
Various Artists [Deep Soul Music]
#11 in this month's The 20The key to this release is in the title; a collection of tracks from up-and-coming artists who are pushing the boundaries of traditionally styled d&b.
The likes of Eveson, Lynx and Data are perhaps among the most exciting new talents to emerge on the scene and are already making some of the most highly rated liquid, or intelligent d&b around - so much so Marcus Intalex has already snapped up Lynx for a debut artist album due out later this year.

Forget My Name feat. Hot Chip
Jesse Rose [Dubsided]
#12 in this month's The 20The first single to be taken from Jesse Rose’s debut LP ‘What Do You Do If You Don’t?’ finds him moving further away from the fidgety fuss that brought him to prominence.
Hot Chip, who have had a toe dipped in the dance scene since forever, lend a vocal presence to what is essentially a plodding indie dance number.
Polyfolk Dance
Hudson Mohawke [Warp]
#13 in this month's The 20The noise coming out of Glasgow right now has reached fever pitch.
‘Polyfolk Dance’ is the first full-blown EP from latest Warp Records
signing Hudson Mohawke
.

Bruised
Sigha [Hotflush Recordings]
#14 in this month's The 20Hotflush’s flirtation with techno in recent weeks has reached the point of a full-on proposition.
‘Bruised’, the debut release from London-based producer Sigha
, drops the horseplay and leads with a deep-as-a-chasm cruise into the world of 4/4.

Strange World Beyond
Piemont [MBF]
#15 in this month's The 20Phunklarique
and Dejonka
, the duo responsible for the storming minimal track ‘Reflections In Plexiglass’ (which is up for a BMA award), team up as Piemont
for their debut album, ‘Strange World Beyond’.
With their breakthrough ‘Carbonat’ that put them on the map back in May 2007, here the pair present another side to their sound by combining influences that range from abstract ambient sounds to emotional techno in an album that pulls its theme from the deep sea.
Jive Conspiracy
Wasted Chicago Youth [Tuning Spork]...
#16 in this month's The 20Dotbleep labelhead Justin Long
along with Mazi Namvar of Fresh Meat fame have teamed up for their side project, Wasted Chicago Youth, an outlet meant to edify their professional partnership by merging house and techno into the new school Chicago house sound.
‘Jive Conspiracy’ is their third EP as WCY, and their first on Jay Haze’s Tuning Spork
imprint. The three-track release finds them in proper form, with a monotonous organ-led riff and all key components of jackin’ house aligned.

Fractals
John Tejada [Palette]
#17 in this month's The 20John Tejada
is on something of a hot streak right now.
Having released his acclaimed Fabric 44 CD at the beginning of the year, the Los Angeles-based producer follows up the mix with ‘Fractals’, a 7-track EP brimming with opposing moods and themes through his own Palette Recordings.

Tiger Snake EP
Christian Vance [Perspectiv Records...
#18 in this month's The 20Australian producer Christian Vance
is a mere two tracks into his releasing career and finds himself on Ripperton’s high profile Perspectiv imprint - not a bad start.
‘Tiger Snake’ has something of a “Martin Buttrich in his ‘Full Clip’ days” air to it: Low frequency toms, creeping synths and melodic overtones have long been the stomping ground of the Hannover producer.

Volcano

#19 in this month's The 20Back when Marty McFly was still jamming to Huey Lewis and the News, Beppe Loda
and Francesco Boscolo were getting their musical kicks from an altogether different era – the future.
Fitting then, that Volcano should re-enter the public consciousness some 25 years later; bearing testament to their own time travelling capabilities.

Equalized #002
EQD [Equalized]
#20 in this month's The 20‘Equalized #002’ is the second in a series of releases from an as yet unnamed Hard Wax-affiliated producer.
Arriving almost a full year after its predecessor, #002 is centered around the same rough-and-ready aesthetics that placed ‘#001’ among the most highly sought after releases of 2008.
