Remix Carl Cox for CR2!

Beatportal has teamed up with CR2 Records to find four talented producers to remix a Carl Cox dance anthem. CR2 need four remixes of Carl Cox’ classic 1991 hit ‘I Want You’ - a house version, a techno version, an electro one and a tech house remix. This is your chance to remix one of the biggest DJs in the world!

The competition coincides with the re-release of ‘I Want You’, which British house DJ Yousef has remixed.

The winning four remixes will be featured on the digital release of Carl Cox Vs. Yousef ‘I Want You’.

“I’m such a big fan of Carl, he was the first DJ I saw playing in a proper club, he was the best then and the best now,” said Yousef.

“After playing for him at the Space closing party in Ibiza, I told him I was going to do a rework of his 1991 UK top 20 hit ‘I Want You’ as a kind of a thanks for having me play at his events in Miami and Ibiza, and for playing at my Circus party in Liverpool.”

So what’s Yousef remix like?

“I wanted a tribute to the original but wanted to add some more elements, keep the vibe but update it, and make it more like his stuff on Intec.

“So it’s partly based on samples and partly on new music. Carl loved it as far as I know, as he played it the weekend I gave it to him on all his radio shows worldwide.”

Yousef had this message for all the aspiring producers thinking of entering the remix contest:

“I’m looking forward to discovering a new talent, there is so much out there, I came though via a DJ competition so this is fitting that a producer can potentially break through in a similar vein. Good luck!”
