There’s been a lot of talk about Cobblestone Jazz lately, but even more people have been giving their ears the treat of listening to their album, ‘23 Seconds’.
Made up of a trio of musicians between Vancouver, Canada and Berlin, Germany (Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate and Tyger Dhula), the outfit has managed to turn the idea of solely electronic music on its ear, counting on some of its inherent jazz roots.
You would think that one of the album’s several fine-tunes tracks would leave the greatest impression on member Mathew Jonson, but here we get a glimpse into his light-hearted sense of humor with the whole thing.
“The most memorable part for me was watching Danuel dancing around like an old hippie raver with his shirt off.
“Once the shirts come off in our studio, it’s time for business.”
We’re guessing the shirts came off often during the making of ‘23 Seconds’.
Whether it’s Jonson and Dhula’s electronic wizardry, or Tate’s keyboard essentials, hearing this album performed live is a new adventure altogether.
Jonson describes the carefree scenario as only a seasoned musician can.
“When we play the songs live, we add new parts, so there is a new energy in each song, every time.”
He’s also spoken of a dream-wish for Cobblestone Jazz to work with the legendary Quincy Jones.
At this rate, we’ll have to second that emotion.
