Your World / Into The Future
Metrik [Intrinsic Recordings]
1 April, 2008 | 4.27PMThe Pendulum-styled tracks continue with aplomb.
Here, you have a classic example of 200 Hz-boosted neurofunk.
You’ll either love or hate this style, but most of you love it, judging by the fact that recently it was Beatport’s No.1 download in the drum & bass section.
Perhaps it’s something to do with the melancholy piano and beach-wave samples in its breakdown.
Perhaps… But we have a hunch that this record’s appeal actually lies in the Artificial Intelligence-style LFO mid-range that rides all over the sub on its drop.
It sounds damned great in a dance music sort of way.
The big love being sprayed all over this release’s main track will mean that some of you may overlook its virtual B-side, which is called ‘Into The Future’.
This is a delectable, bassy number that sounds beefy-as-hell on a thumping sound system.
If you’ve heard ‘Into The Future’ in any of London’s more expensively-assembled venues, then you’ll know exactly what we’re on about.
The hench drums and satisfyingly obese sub bass are complemented by a computery, staccato female vocal and, of course, Metrik
’s fast-becoming-signature orchestral breakdown with serene strings and suchlike.
