Yello remix contest winners
3 February, 2010 | 3.26AMIn November for the first time, pioneering electronic music band Yello put up remix parts to two of their classic hits and asked the Beatport community to remix to their hearts’ content.
After weeks of deliberation, Yello have announced the winners of their ‘Bostich’ / ‘Oh Yeah’ double remix contest.
Here are the winners and runners-up to both contests.
Bostich
The Cube Guys won the ‘Bostich’ remix contest as well as the best remix overall with an excellent tribal-laced techno version that reworked the original into a clever modern club cut.
J.Martini’s white-noise tinted techno remix was a runner-up, as was Red Cotton & Zidan for their deep house remix.
Oh Yeah
Simone Tavazzi won the ‘Oh Yeah’ contest for his heavy techno version of the track, which reworked the track’s famous vocal samples over layers of tough techno rhythms.
Sergi Moreno, Vincent McFly and Jossy C’s remix of ‘Oh Yeah’ was a runner-up. The trio put together a mainroom funky techno version based around the vocal.
The final runner-up was Minitek, who offered a subtle deep techno version that impressed the band.
Congratulations to all six winners - their remixes have been released on Tiger Records as official Yello mixes.
