World Cup Beatdown: Stefano Noferini (Italy)

World Cup Beatdown: Stefano Noferini (Italy)

To celebrate this year’s World Cup, we’ve found the most football-obsessed DJs in electronic music and asked them to “represent” their home countries and share their predictions for this year’s championship.

On behalf of his native Italy—who, as you might recall, took the home the title in 2006’s World Cup—is Florence’s Stefano Noferini [a] of Deeperfect Records [l], himself no stranger to the victorious upper regions of Beatport’s Top 100…

Personal bias aside, who do you think will really emerge as champions this year?

I really like England’s team this year. They have such incredible talents and a very good Italian coach, Fabio Capello—so if they win, a bit of this will also be for us!

How well do you think your national team will perform and what players should we be watching out for?

I hope that we’ll be as good as in the last World Cup, but I guess this is hard… Anyway, we have very good players such as Claudio Marchisio and Leonardo Bonucci—they’re young, but with lots of potential.

What has been your favourite World Cup so far?

Naturally the ones that Italy won, 1982 and 2006, for the high quality of the players and the show—really involving!

What would be your ideal track for your team’s World Cup Song this year?

I think Riva Star’s ‘Splendido’. That means bright, wonderful, superb, so it’s the best to drive our team. Plus, he’s one of the top Italian producers at the moment.

What songs would you pick for when your country wins and what song for when you lose?

If Italy wins again, I would like to pick my song ‘Everybody’, which is a very cool, summery, party-friendly track—perfect to celebrate a victory. And in case of defeat, probably the same track as well, because it’s perfect to cheer up!

Finally, where will you be watching the tournament this year?

I hope to see all the matches chilling with my friends at my place, with a big HD TV. But I have to travel a lot this summer, so anywhere I can find a place will be good!
