World Cup Beatdown: Pristine Blusters (Brazil)

World Cup Beatdown: Pristine Blusters (Brazil)

We’ve got just one more installment of our World Cup series for you, and it’s kind of a crucial one. Pristine Blusters come from Brazil, who one or two commentators believe might do rather well in this year’s tournament. Shocking, we know.

Hailing from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Pristine Blusters have been DJing and producing their version of electro house since 2007; they’ve recently remixed Jody Harsh and Larry Tee’s tribute to the supermodel Agyness Deyn, and their remix of Blood Shake’s ‘Mexico Caliente’ appears on DJs Are Not Rockstars.

Personal bias aside, who do you think will really emerge as champions this year?

We must say that Brazil is gonna win this World Cup - wouldn’t you do the same if you had the best team in the whole world? Now seriously: we think Brazil has the potential to succeed. Other national teams such as Spain, England and Argentina are huge players in this scenario though.

How well do you think your national team will perform and what players should we be watching out for?

The Brazilian coach Dunga has selected the most down-to-earth and compromised players, coming up with a slightly boring squad. Even though, we would highly recommend you keep an eye on Kaka: he’s pretty talented and a natural leader—which is very important feature for a player.

What has been your favourite World Cup so far?

1994 in the US. Brazil was the winner (after 24 years) and we had one of the most insane teams: Bebeto, Romário, Dunga, Raí and Ronaldo (it was his World Cup indeed).

What would be your ideal track for your team’s World Cup Song this year?

Blood Shake feat. MC Gi, ‘Mexico Caliente (Pristine Blusters Remix)’.

What songs would you pick for when your country wins and what song for when you lose?

We’d pick Major Lazer, ‘Keep It Goin’ Louder’ ft. Nina Sky and Ricky Blaze for the win, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, ‘Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)’ if we go through and EPIC FAIL.

And finally where will you be watching the tournament this year?

By the time the World Cup finally started we were back in São Paulo working on our new single, ‘Wicked Man’ (soon arriving on Beatport). Half of our days are spent producing and the other half watching Brazil win!
