WMC Track: Fred Faulke ‘Last Wave’ (Re-Edit)
WMC Track: Fred Faulke ‘Last Wave’ (Re-Edit)
19 February, 2008 | 12.42AMIf anything, Miami’s annual Winter Music Conference is about hot new dance music.
DJs, producers and labels deliberately aim to promote their biggest tracks during WMC when much of the dance music industry is gathered.
The tracks that cause the most dancefloor reaction during WMC often go on to become the hit records in the summer in Ibiza.
Beatportal has decided to get ahead of the curve and predict what tracks we think will be big at WMC 2008.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be releasing our WMC Track predictions.
Our first prediction is Fred Faulke ‘Last Wave’ (Re-Edit).
Discofied electro house ain’t usually our bag, but Fred Faulke’s new ‘Music For My Friends’ EP contains some excellent house beats, including the exceptional ‘Last Wave’ (Re-Edit).
In a similar vein to some of Justice’s jumpy electro house, ‘Last Wave’ contains some phat beats and squeeky electro noises, before moving into a disco vocal loop.
The sound production of the track is supreme, as expected from Faulke, a man with a track record for producing house anthems.
‘Last Wave’ (Re-Edit) sits somewhere in between funky house and electro and as such, pushes both genres towards each other and forward at the same time.
There isn’t much innovation going on in electro house at the moment, but as one of house music’s top producers Fred Faulke has managed to pull out a winner destined for the big time.
Yes it’s commercial. Yes it’s going to be big at WMC. So get it, whilst it’s still hot.
