WMC bomb here: Michel Cleis ‘La Mezcla’

If there was one record that dominated the house and techno brigade at this year’s WMC, it was Michel Cleis ‘La Mezcla’. In a smart move, Luciano’s Cadenza have just released it on Beatport whilst the hype is still white hot. Wahoo!

The Chilean-Swiss techno troubadour has been caning the track almost exclusively in his sets for about a year, and at WMC it reached that rare WMC anthem level.

There’s something in the exotic Colombian male vocals, organic drumming and sexy swing that SCREAMS of summer. It is destined for the terraces of Ibiza and beyond, and who knows, maybe Ministry will snap it up for a big hit release (with a video) in September.

The only small complaint I have is - why did Luciano wait so long to release the track? Already some people have pointed out (quite rightly) that they’ve been listening to it for six months or more via his DJ sets which are available freely online.

The danger for Cadenza is that they might have missed the upswing in hype. Either way, it’s still a brilliant record.
