WMC bomb here: Alex Seda ‘Ricochet’

One of the big house records to emerge at Miami’s WMC last month was Alex Seda ‘Ricochet’, a Nervous Records house cut with a simple and memorable vocal. I love it!

‘Ricochet’ is the kind of pumping Miami house sound that DJs like Oscar G and Tom Stephan play, and that makes some sense considering Alex Seda [a] is a Miami-based DJ and producer himself.

‘Ricochet’ lived up to its name as I heard it destroy a number of house music parties at WMC.

Whilst the original is a mainroom-pleasing big house record, Garrett Thomas and Inphinity’s remix is almost trance-tinged with blissful synths that build up before dropping back into a tight tech house groove. The more stripped back, dub feel of their remix and the modest use of vocal makes it more useful for mid-set, energy-inducing moments.

Trent Cantrelle’s version takes the tempo and mood up another notch, with snare rolls and arpegiated synths.

It’s great to see that Nervous Records, one of the longest running independent labels in the US (founded in 1991), is still very much on the case.
