Last night, François K impressed with a very techy set at Pawn Shop.

Despite the veteran New York DJ being known for deep house and dub, he pulled out a fresh selection of tight techno grooves to smash the Pawn Shop crowd into submission.

Beatportal didn’t recognize a single track all night.

In Beatportal’s recent interview with François K, he told us that he never prepares a set and is totally spontaneous about what he spins.

“Part of being a DJ is to react on the instant, and to be a sort of mirror of what people want to hear,” he said.

So it seems, last night François K felt that the crowd was more of a techno-orientated lot (Cobblestone Jazz were playing in the second room) and decided to go down that route.

Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards impressed too with a tightly controlled tech house groove.

He’s definitely one of the best DJs/producers in tech house at the moment.
