‘Why Can’t We Live Together’ sampled on ‘Realistic’
21 February, 2008 | 12.27PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
I love a good sample, and it comes no bigger then Timmy Thomas’ ‘Why Can’t We Live Together’ on Kolombo’s ‘Realistic’.
The haunting Lowrey organ rift has graced many tracks over the years, but few from the darker side of the house genre, so kudos to both artist and the BluFin label for throwing the rule book out of the window and creating a track that shouldn’t work, but so does!
And if the 1970s feel isn’t why ya head’s at Cass twists the original into a stark slab of dirty electronic (although for my mind, it is devoid of any soul), the bonus cut ‘Indigo’ honours its name delving deep into dark melancholic twisted territory.
