Who are the 1200 Warriors?

Who are the 1200 Warriors?

Many of you have heard the name or heard their music.

For those of you who haven’t, you need to crawl out from under that rock!

The 1200 Warriors [a] have released music and remixes with some of house music’s premier record labels, mainstream and underground, including Defected, Greenskeepers Music, Oomph, Guesthouse, 4kenzo, as well as many others.

And most recently, their own new upstart label 1200 TRAXX has generated a huge buzz with underground hits like ‘Jazzo’ and ‘Bonafide (feat. Craig Mitchell)’ in addition to many others!

Commonly referred to as “Those 1200 Guys,” The Warriors are made up of Junior and Choco.

The duo hails from NYC’s own Washington Heights, which is where many of the industry’s most talented artists also call home.

With their ongoing push and forward moving energy, The Warriors have not even started to release there prime cuts or rock the International DJ circuit.

For a while, everyone has been hearing about their album, ‘Live from NY’, that was originally supposed to be released some time ago.

After bidding wars and the typical record industry delays, the wait is finally over, and the first single will be released sooner than you think.

‘Live from NY’ is blessed with the fruitful talents of Michelle Weeks, KY-Mani Marley, and Keith Robinson just to name a few.

It also features these standouts themselves rocking the mic on a cut titled, ‘Where Were You When the Lights Went Out’, which gets heavy rotation from one of house music’s biggest names, Mark Farina.

There’s also the breakout track, ‘Loose Control’, which features vocals from hip-hop superstars, The Wu-Tang Clan.

Incidentally, the song was leaked out to some of the industry’s top DJs in 2005 and is still being caned with the same intensity today.

We’ve also heard that the track ‘Fireburn’ will be just that, straight fire!

Basically, this album brings a lot of heat, and is certain to be a fan favorite for a long time to come.

The Warriors spend the majority of their time in the studio and have a tremendous amount of talent to offer musically.

They are known for their “dirty” and “raunchy” style beats.

Their style is also deep and soulful in many ways, and still carry that traditional “straight up b-boy feel.”

The future is as bright as ever for The Warriors, as well as their new label, 1200 TRAXX. Their roster consists of a little of the new with a touch of the old.

Junior explains:

“After so many years of dealing with so many record labels and their BS, I just felt it was time. I am not going to go on about how I am going to save house music, or change the scene, but I will tell you this: WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! In the beginning, the main focus of “1200 TRAXX” was obviously going to be for us, THE 1200 WARRIORS, so we could have a home to release our own music, at our own pace, and without the issues that come with making a formal deal with a label. But after listening to tracks that have come our way, especially from a lot of the younger producers and remixers, they all have the same thing in common. They’ve all said we’ve inspired them to either start making music or keep making music, and the same goes for many of the veterans that are out there. Yeah, you know who you are! So now we’re opening our doors to the rest of the world to join in our venture. Our main focus is to release quality MUSIC and open the doors for new talent. The new talent is priority because it represents the future of this industry, but the cause will be stronger with veterans helping along the way too. So we are now just about 5 releases in, and we haven’t even really begun. You can take a look at our roster, and you will have an idea of what the future will bring. The future of this label is both in our hands and in yours, and we thank you for all of your support up to this point, and for recognizing what we are trying to do.”

What else can be said about The Warriors?

Finally, the long wait is over.
