What’s in Robbie Rivera’s DJ box?
8 October, 2010 | 6.05AMRobbie Rivera
spends the next two and a half months crossing North America with his Rock the Disco tour. He kicked it off last week in Portland, Oregon, and he’ll be racking up frequent flier points between now and December 17, as he hits Cabo San Lucas, Orlando, DC, Boston, Chicago, LA, Denver, and many more cities big and small. Check his website for the full schedule.
We asked Rivera to give a glimpse inside his DJ box; check out what he’s playing below, along with his most recent Top 10 chart.
His single “We Live for the Music” is freshly out, featuring remixes from Tiesto, Funkerman, Fonzerelli, and many more.
Favorite set opener
That’s easy! My own track, Robbie Rivera’s ”Rock The Disco (Laidback Luke Edit)”. All of my fans know this tune, by now, and it shows the clubs that the Juicy man is in!
Trippiest record
Felix Baumgartner & Jay C’s “Souk."
Bassline weapon
Another tune of mine, Robbie Rivera’s ”Funk-A-Tron 2010.” There is no other track with such a killer electro bassline!
Killer vocal track
This track is one of my classic anthems, and I get a huge, huge reaction every time I play it. Even if I don’t plan on playing it, my fans demand it, so I end-up always including it in my sets. Robbie Rivera’s ”Back To Zero.”
Favorite cross-cultural collision
The Rivera Project, ”Puerto Rico Vibe.”
Oldie that everyone else has forgotten
Jaydee’s ”Plastic Dreams.”
Secret weapon that only you have a copy of
Robbie Rivera’s “Funkatron 2010.”
Sneaky edit or mashup that you’ve made
My tune, Robbie Rivera’s “Closer To The Sun,” and I did a remix this summer in Ibiza that is still rocking my dancefloors whenever I drop it!
Closing track for those “one more tune” encores
Robbie Rivera, ”Escape."
Guilty pleasure
Moet & Chandon in the booth! Or, Jagermeister shots, but only when Tijs (Tiesto) is making me do shots!
Record you play when you’re in a bad mood
Hmm....I’d say, probably anything very electro and very hard. But, just because you hear me play super electro or very hard tracks, that doesn’t mean I’m necessarily in a bad mood.
Happiest record
One of my latest tunes, Robbie Rivera’s ”We Live For The Music.” I’ve had some good friends remix this single, including Tiesto, Funkerman, Fonzerelli, and Juanjo Martin.
The record that will never leave your box
Robbie Rivera’s ”Move Move.”
Record you’re actually afraid to play out?
I don’t have these types of tunes in my DJ box, but anything 145bpm scares the sh*t out of me!
