What’s Hot In House

House diva Shawnee Taylor is back in the spotlight with releases on Subliminal [a] and John Dahlback’s Mutants label, Riva Starr [a] releases his latest, ‘Splendido’, on his Snatch! imprint and shares his Weekend Weapons, Axtone Records [l] blasts into the Beatport Top 10 with the Adrian Lux exclusive ‘Teenage Crime’, while Milk & Sugar Recordings gear up for the release of remixes of their 2005 smash ‘I Need Your Lovin’’ by Casanovy, and Wynter Gordon’s ‘I Feel Love’ on Cr2 is back with a fresh new set of mixes for summer.

Shawnee Taylor

New York City’s vocal house diva Shawnee Taylor [a] continues to deliver some of the most memorable tracks to clubland. In 2009, she jumped back into house music’s spotlight with ‘Life Goes On’, produced by Erick Morillo and Richard Grey, on Subliminal Records. Now, the talented and prolific Taylor has teamed up with a solid group of producers (Greg Cerrone, Erick Morillo and Eddie Thoenick) for two house anthems that have hit the street running this week. ‘It’ll Be Alright’ and ‘Live Your Life’ are powerful tracks driven by Taylor’s euphoric yet soulful vocals.

Riva Starr, ‘Splendido’ [Snatch!]’

After a string of head-turning releases and remixes on some of the best independent labels, Riva Starr [a] couldn’t be hotter right now, as he pushes the envelope and incorporates new production techniques with bits and pieces of rare classics. Starr calls his style “comedy house”, a fun, funky slice of modern house music for the masses. Check out ‘Splendido’ featuring Rettore, and don’t miss his Weekend Weapons for Beatportal.

Freakx Brothers, ‘Burn My Ghettoblaster (Chris Lake Miami Edit)’ [Big Love]

The latest from Seamus Haji’s Big Love [l] label is an exclusive edit of the Freakx Brothers. Chris Lake, well known for his crossover hits like ‘Changes’, goes back to his roots with a masterful edit. A power play down in Miami this year on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show, ‘Burn My Ghettoblaster’ is an earthshaking fusion of electro, house, and techno.

Adrian Lux, ‘Teenage Crime’ [Axtone]

One of the most anticipated releases for Axwell’s Axtone Records [l] finally arrives with two massive remixes courtesy of Axwell and fellow Swede Henrik B. as Remode. Adrian Lux is an up-and-coming talent to the scene with only a couple of tracks in his discography, ‘Strawberry’ and ‘Can’t Sleep’. ‘Teenage Crime’ is sure to break down the walls and open up the doors for Lux as it quickly secures a place in the Beatport Top 10.

Casanovy, ‘I Need Your Lovin’’ remixes [Milk & Sugar]

After their massive success in 2005, German leading house label Milk & Sugar now releases the 2010 versions of one of its biggest hits so far. Remixes come from Ruben Alvarez, who has worked with David Penn’s Urbana Recordings label, and S2G artists Chris Montana & Dave Ramon. Newcomers Danni Matin & Carlos Mendes deliver a synth-driven progressive mix, and Ibiza don Sin Plomo accentuates the acappella with a serene chilled downtempo version.

MYNC feat. Wynter Gordon, ‘I Feel Love’ [Cr2]

Championed by Carl Cox and Sven Väth in the spring, the seminal ‘I Feel Love’ featuring Wynter Gordon is back on Cr2 with mindbending mixes just in time for summer by Avicii, Hugo, Dan Castro, Circus Parade, and Goodwill along with Hook N Sling.
