What’s better: live or computer for a promo mix?

In this digital world, more and more promotional DJ mixes (and compilation CDs) land of Beatportal’s desk that have been done in Ableton, or in another program that allows you to build DJ sets on a computer.

They are perfectly mixed, flawless and tightly programmed.

The occasional live mixes that we do receive stand out like a sore thumb.

The question is: what’s better? A live mix done on turntables, CDJs or using a digital vinyl system (DVS) like Serato or Traktor? Or is a computer mix better because at the end of the day, it’s the music that’s important?

We’d like to hear your thoughts.
