Whatever You May Think EP
Whatever You May Think EP
Andres Fumero [Xela Digital]
7 February, 2008 | 4.39AMThe name of this EP certainly demands the review you’re about to read.
‘Whatever You May Think’ is a highly melody-driven song built around a really solid lead bassline.
Woven through this are a whole plethora of different sounds – digital synths like arpeggiators, vocoder patterns, phased and flanged FXs and generally things that flatter your ear.
‘Whatever You May Think’ later evolves into a techno-style roll out which plays out underneath an ecstasy-soaked, angelic riff that is sure to wreak havoc on any dance floor.
‘Replicant U2’ is a brilliant and memorable masterpiece.
With a big ‘n’ bashy lead bass in the vein of Booka Shade’s finest, this is something that will never get boring.
‘Eleckonexion’, moving on, continues the fun – it’s like Sonic The Hedgehog on acid.
Many producers try in vain to replicate the 8-bit and 16-bit sounds of yesteryear in dance music form, but Andres Fumero
succeeds gloriously here.
Close your eyes and you’ll think you’ve been sucked inside a retro Gameboy console and are playing some sort of intrepid-explorer video game.
Andres achieves this by composing his entire arrangement out of square-waves – so wannabee producers take note!
This is exclusive to Beatport.
