It seems like everyday there is something exciting happening at Beatport. Today is no different as we officially introduce Beatportal.com. The idea for this site was simple. We realized that Beatport needed a way to embrace our community with more information about artists, labels, events and more, but Beatport.com just didn’t seem like the right place. 

Instead, it seemed more appropriate to create a new site where content could be created that truly showcased the talent that is present in the electronic community. And we wanted to create something where our users could get involved and have a voice. The concept of forums is outdated and our team felt more inspired by the multitude of user generated communities that thrive on creating and sharing content. The time was right to create this site.

During a brainstorming session on how to solve the problem and what to call it, Scott Paradis, one of our research and development team members, came up with the name Beatportal. It seemed like the perfect name that encompassed everything the team was trying to accomplish. A site that has the brand of Beatport and was a portal of information and community sharing about electronic music. So after countless brainstorming sessions, design reviews, content reviews, coding changes, and several all-night sessions, the site is finally ready to debut.

Take some time to click around and visit all the different articles and sections that have been created. Check out our newest feature, ‘The Twenty’, which is a collection of the twenty releases each month we think you can’t live without. Make sure to add your comments to all the different sections and help make the site rich with user driven opinions. The team working on this site is dedicated to responding quickly to the requests of the readers and making improvements to the site. After this much work, it is important to get it right. So if you see things that need changes or you have an idea for a new section, make sure to write a comment and let us know.
