Welcome to 2008
Welcome to 2008
7 January, 2008 | 4.36PMWell, we all made it through the holidays. What a crazy few weeks. Hopefully we are all recovered from a rough and rowdy New Years Eve. I know I’m finally getting back into the groove.
As eluded to in my previous posts, Beatport 4.0 is on the horizon. We have developers cranking on the concepts, design, and code as we speak. The site will be launched in phases and I promise to leak a few screen shots onto my blog before long. The design is coming along nicely with some major UI changes per the lengthy suggestions of our users. Again, thank you for all your ideas and suggestions. We had over 80 posts to that blog. A record for my blog posts for sure.
We are also launching Beatsource.com this spring. Already, we have tons of awesome support from the urban music community. Both artists and labels are getting involved to make sure that the urban DJs have a resource as good as Beatport. The site will launch with close to 50,000 tracks! That is significantly better than the 1,500 tracks that launched with Beatport in January 2004. PromoOne will launch by mid year with as an awesome music promotion tool. Already, we have our teams working hard to make the launch successful. And of course, there are a few other goodies that we are not talking about yet.
As you may or may not know, we are celebrating our fourth birthday this month. It seems impossible that it has already been four full years. Time flies! To commemorate the occasion we have two awesome parties scheduled. The party in Denver is a private gig with 400 of our closest friends that have helped this team in our hometown. The party in Berlin is free to the public and is being held at Watergate Club on January 30th. The line-up at both parties is incredible and we invite you all to attend. If you can’t make it, we’ll post tons of footage!
If you can’t make either, you’ll see Beatport supporting the scene around the globe this year. We have parties in every corner of the world as well as a few tour sponsorships. Our goal is to reach the world with this music. Something we take serious every single day of the year.
See you online,
Jonas
