Weird things you didn’t know about Lee Burridge
6 April, 2009 | 2.11PMJetting from country to country, touring from town to town, DJs are in the unique position of being able to experience different cultures and people while at the same time uniting them through music.
However although we hear so much of their music and often learn a great deal about their work and the future of the music scene as they see it, we often miss finding out a little bit more about who they are and what insights they have to offer us back.
As part of my recent interview with Lee Burridge
, I decided to throw some curve balls at him in order to learn a little bit more about his personality and personal life.
Here are some weird things you didn’t know about Lee Burridge.
What’s your favorite word?
Anthropomorphization. It’s the one you can never quite get on a Scrabble board: it means giving inanimate objects attributes of life.
I did English right before I didn’t go to university. I really wasn’t studying and was going to be hanging out and I thought that I was really smart. My answer to everything was throwing in a really big word; the other one I like is flockynockynihilipilification, which is the study of nothing.
What’s your least favorite word?
Bush [laughing].
A female B?
Mr.Bush
What turns you on creatively or emotionally?
Music. It’s such an obvious answer but it has always been there in my life since I was a kid and it really amazes me how people can make really interesting music that gives me that tingle.
What turns you off?
Well all the bad music out there. There is just so much bad music and I guess bad breath would also do it.
What is your favorite noise or sound?
There was this guy riding around in Burning Man on this mechanical Zebra and it was making this weeoweeeeeewaaaa sound that was so weird, you could hear it coming and you thought what the hell was that, and it was the mechanical zebra.
What sound or noise do you hate?
I actually have never been a fan of nails down the blackboard, it sounds pretty painful.
What’s your favorite curse word?
Scheisse. There is one for you Germans out there. It’s a good one and I heard it on Arrested Development and it tickled me for some reason. You can say that one in front of your parents, unless if they are German of course.
What profession other than DJing would you like to attempt?
With my set of sexy legs, exotic dancing would be an obvious one, but I actually have wondered about this question and kinda like the idea of landscape gardening for some reason.
What would you never do?
Too late I think I’ve done it all. I also have never been a fan of injecting, so I don’t think I would do heroin. However I just recently decided that maybe if I was 70 and could afford it I would take up a heroin addiction.
I’ve heard that apparently it’s not that bad if you can afford it, it’s only bad if you run out of money. I think that just when I’m deaf and crapping my pants and nothing else is going on, and girls don’t like me anymore I’ll just start banging it up.
[laughing] By the way, I am not encouraging any of you out there to do heroin.
