Weekend weapons…Sven Vath
3 November, 2008 | 2.22PMOur exclusive Weekend Weapons feature this week comes from one of the biggest influencers in techno - German legend Sven Vath
, a DJ who rarely does interviews.
As boss of Cocoon Recordings
, Sven Vath has built one of the strongest brands in electronic music.
This year Ibiza was all about Cocoon: the weekly Monday club nights at Amnesia saw unprecedented numbers of people attend, with upwards of 7,000 people going to Cocoon each night.
This past weekend Sven played a Halloween bash at his special Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, and in Zurich at Rohstofflager club.
Here are three tracks that destroyed those dancefloors during Sven’s sets, in his own words.

1. Timo Maas ‘Subtellite’ (Cocoon Recordings)
This is a terrific summer slammer that I have been playing in every set since June.
The guitars and beats on this track have gone down so well at Cocoon.

2. John Starlight ‘Road Rage’ (Cocoon Recordings)
Get John Starlight ‘Road Rage’
This is top notch techno craziness from an excellent producer.
Amazing production, and a very different kind of techno/electro sound.
It’s very forward thinking.

3. Reboot ‘Vandong’ (Below)
This is a track by fellow Frankfurt homie Reboot, who is one of the whiz kids of 2008.
His productions are so tight and groovy.
In fact, I love ‘Vandong’ so much, I decided to use it on my new mix CD.
