Weekend Weapons…Paul van Dyk
Weekend Weapons…Paul van Dyk
15 December, 2008 | 10.23AMGermany’s Paul van Dyk
needs no introduction, having picked up nearly every accolade in electronic music during his illustrious 17-year DJ career.
He’s been at the forefront of the trance scene since the early days and has released some of the scene’s biggest records.
Paul took some time out of his busy schedule to let the Beatportal community know what his current top three Weekend Weapons are.
PvD is currently on his VOYNC Sessions Tour taking in cities across the world, and these are the records that are doing the business for him on the ‘floor.

1. Alex M.O.R.P.H. ‘Sunshine’ [Vandit]
‘Sunshine’ is Alex M.O.R.P.H.’s kick off single for his upcoming solo artist debut album ‘Purple Audio’.
It’s a gorgeous piece of trance music with a wonderful melody, driving chords and lots of energy. It works in the club just as well as in my radio show VONYC Sessions, and brings a a bit sunshine into these dark and cold European winter days.

2. Starchaser ft. Lo-Fi Sugar ‘So High’ [Vandit]
This is yet another beautiful track by Starchaser. They certainly know how to produce outstanding vocal songs.
Together with singer / songwriter Lo-Fi Sugar - some of you might know her from my album ‘In Between’ - they created a breezy, high spirited groover with a sensual vocal on top.
While the original is kind of dreamy electro house, Martin Roth
and Adam Sheridan
grab it by the bass balls and each turned it into an edgy, pumping club destroyer. Massive!

3. Paul van Dyk ft. Ashley Tomberlin ‘New York City’ (Super8 & Tab Rmx) [Vandit]
This is one of the beauties from my current remix album ‘Hands On In Between’ and recently got awarded ‘Best Track of 2008’ at the annual Trance Awards.
The album is a fantastic assortment of remixes by ReLocate
, Kyau & Albert
, Giuseppe Ottaviani
, Tyler Michaud
and many others, but the Super8 & Tab Remix is what blows the roof off the club.
Dirty buzzing bassline, power paired with the lovely voice of Ashley Tomberlin.
