Weekend Weapons…Martin Roth

Weekend Weapons…Martin Roth

Berlin based producer Martin Roth [a] captivated more than just the trance camp last year, with his progressive-infused electro that had strong roots in hypnotism. His music crossed over so much, that Roth had to coin a term just so he could explain his motivation.

‘NuStyle’ promised a darker and more twisted form of trance music, and it had such an impact that we named Roth our top trance artist of 2008.

Catching up with him more than six months later, it’s clear that Martin Roth’s metamorphosis is far from over. In March, he produced a NuStyle remix of CJ Stone ‘Shining Star’, followed quickly by a collection of progressive remixes of Barlett Bros ‘Losing Gravity’.

Then in June a collaboration with Marc Van Linden saw Roth push all the way into techno territory on ‘Kickback’, and as this edition of Weekend Weapons shows, Roth’s flirtation with techno has only just begun.

Kolombo ‘Je T’aime’ (Carlo Lio Remix) (Hotfingers)

Massive, massive, massive! I’m so in love with this track.

It has such a dark but moving vibe and it fits into every set that I play, whatever direction I head in.

Mind X ‘Amygdala’ (Main Mix) (Pinkstar)

This is the first follow up to our hit from last year, ‘Sensation Seekers’.

It just builds, builds, builds right up until the explosion at the end. We’ve got more to follow coming soon too!

Dustin Zahn ‘Stranger’ (Len Faki Podium Mix) (Rekids)

Everything Len Faki delivers is gold. His Podium Mix of Dustin Zahn ‘Stranger’ (To Stability) is huge.

I just can’t resist the deep bassline and atmosphere!
