Weekend Weapons…Lee Burridge
Weekend Weapons…Lee Burridge
17 November, 2008 | 9.50AMEach Monday we joke that we have to steal the records of world’s best DJs for our weekly Weekend Weapons feature, but the truth is these DJs are more than happy to share their top tracks with the Beatportal community.
Not Lee Burridge however. On Saturday at Beta nightclub in Denver, Lee told us that he wasn’t interested in the slightest in revealing his big tracks. Oh dear.
That left us with a big problem because if Lee didn’t do the feature, there would be no Weekend Weapons for you today, so for the sake of Beatportal’s users we took evasive action and swiped Lee Burridge’s records. Literally.
Here’s the three biggest tracks from Lee’s set, without descriptions from Lee, because we couldn’t ask him for descriptions after nicking his vinyl, could we?

1. Tiger Stripes ‘Hooked’ (Solumun Remix)
Get Tiger Stripes ‘Hooked’ (Solumun Remix)
This is a bouncy tech house remix from Solumun with a warm pad build up, before breaking down into a bleep led groove.
Lee danced like a loony when he played this track, before hugging us and shouting “I love this track.” Noted.

2. Seth Troxler ‘Love Never Sleeps’ (Par Grindvik Remix) [Crosstown Rebels]
Get Seth Troxler ‘Love Never Sleeps’ (Par Grindvik Remix)
This track destroyed Beta’s dancefloor, and combined with a “You’ve gotta love Seth Troxler
“ comment from Lee, this track was added to his Weekend Weapons three.
Seth Troxler’s gorgeous soulful vocals get twisted by Par Grindvik
, who adds his own bongo loops and techno FX.

3. Jamie Jones & Simon Baker ‘Kaskazi’ (Get Digital Music)
Get Jamie Jones & Simon Baker ‘Kaskazi’
One of the biggest tracks of the night was Jamie Jones and Simon Baker’s ‘Kaskazi’, thanks to the recognisable vocal and Get Physical-style tech house beats and bass.
“I sent Jamie Jones
an email and asked him why he decided to big up Tiësto in the track,” Lee told us as the track played.
“Jamie was like ‘what the fuck are you on about?’, but if you listen carefully to the high frequency vocal loop you can hear ‘Tiësto, Tiësto, Tiësto!’ I busted him.”
Beatportal would like to apologise to Lee Burridge for hoodwinking him. We did it for Beatportal’s users!
